Geography drives filtering, dispatch, SLA and data security. A location is therefore an operational object containing devices, access instructions, service terms and authorized staff.
Before you begin
- List countries, cities and real service locations before importing devices.
- Decide whether devices at one address form one or several operational sites.
- Verify who can authorize entry and where technicians may park.
Recommended order
Create countries and cities first, then sites and finally devices. This ensures correct filtering and territory permissions.
- Verify the country code.
- Enter the full address and on-site contact.
- Assign each device to one valid location.
Access card
For malls, dormitories or restricted sites, add floor, opening hours, parking, risks, GPS and an orientation photo. Sensitive instructions are encrypted.
Location SLA
Enable a location override only when the site has a genuinely different service agreement; otherwise inherit the company SLA.
- Use consistent naming, such as City – building – floor.
- Place GPS at the real entrance, not the postal-code centre.
- Document why an SLA override differs from the company profile.
- Duplicate sites split history and complicate access.
- A generic site such as “Prague” does not help find a device.
- Moving a device without checking active tickets may alter eligible technicians.
The result is a clean operating map ready for permissions, automation and SLA.
